Product Manager

March 22, 2024

Job Description

Want to build products for customers, not stakeholders? At Jellyfish we put our customers first and build products they love through continuous discovery and partnering closely with design, engineering, and data science. Our mission-driven teams collaborate to learn from our customers and use that knowledge to identify opportunities and deliver solutions. This is why we look for Product Managers who are systems thinkers and empathetic leaders that are driven to create product experiences to make our customers more effective at their jobs and have fun while doing it. This is a unique opportunity to join a product team tasked with creating a new category in its early days. Come help us define the future of building and shipping software.

Let’s talk about responsibilities

  • Use qualitative and quantitative research to gain a thorough understanding of the opportunity space, derive customer requirements and use cases, and build customer intuition and empathy.
  • Define meaningful outcomes, lead the team to deliver solutions, and measure results against those standards.
  • Communicate customer context, product goals, and progress to build alignment with team members and internal stakeholders.
  • Use your understanding of the market, emerging trends, and where the business opportunities lie to inform your strategy, roadmap, and prioritization.
  • Manage the successful launch of everything the team ships, which means being accountable for the quality of the solution and the impact that it has on both customers and the business.
  • Think about how we work, as product managers, and as part of a broader product development organization – pushing us to find better ways of working and delivering for the customer.

Let’s talk about what you need to excel:

  • Proven success in software product management, ideally at fast-growing, SaaS-based startups.
  • Ability to identify what a great product looks and feels like, and have the confidence to challenge the team to produce the best possible result when you know it’s not up to standard.
  • Being thoughtful, organized, and disciplined. You have a bias to action, thrive in rapidly evolving environments, and take initiative to see things through to completion.
  • Strong listening and great communication skills – you can clearly and thoughtfully explain product concepts to our customers, and customer use cases to our internal team members.
  • Experience facilitating and collaborating with high emotional intelligence. You constantly inspire your peers by providing context and strong evidence of the customer and business value of what they’re working on.
  • Excited by solving complex problems in the simplest possible way, and know what tools to apply when in order to get there.
  • You’re not afraid to take risks, and you do so in a thoughtful way that ensures you and your team learn no matter the outcome.
  • An understanding of the software development process, including how engineers use tools such as Jira, Github, Bitbucket, and Gitlab.
  • Previous experience managing data products for both internal and external customers is a plus.
  • A list of job experiences and qualification requirements is great, but humility, a performance-driven attitude, and a team-player approach are most important to us. We love to have fun and win in the process. We only hire people who have a passion for building great companies in an environment where a sense of humor is a must.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for Any employer in the US. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Let’s talk about us!

This is all about you, but you want to know a little about us. Jellyfish was started in 2017 as a team of three with one big idea: engineering is the core of modern business, so let’s create and manage it that way! With the help of our customers, we have built the first Engineering Management Platform, providing visibility into engineering organizations, their work, and how they operate. We enable leaders to align engineering decisions with business initiatives and deliver the right software efficiently and on time.

We believe that it takes a diverse team to build the best company we can. Jellyfish welcomes people from all backgrounds and especially encourages applications from members of groups underrepresented in the software industry.
